Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

We collect only what we need to deliver the Service. Specifically:

• Account data — your email, a hashed password, and your preferences.
• Chat content — the messages you send and the replies we generate. Stored encrypted.
• Memory snippets — small, structured summaries the AI uses to remember you between sessions. Off by default for sensitive topics.
• Usage signals — basic, anonymized signals about page loads and errors. Never tied to chat content.
• Billing data — if you pay, our payment processor holds this. We see only the last four digits of the card and the country.

2. What we don't collect

• We do not collect or store your contacts, calendar, location or any data outside the Service.
• We do not place advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts that read chat content.
• We do not require government ID to sign up.

3. How we use what we collect

We use your data only for these purposes:

• To generate replies and maintain the chat experience.
• To store memory snippets you've enabled, so the character remembers you.
• To send transactional emails — receipts, security notices, account changes.
• To diagnose bugs and improve performance (anonymized signals only).
• To comply with the law where required.

4. Retention — exactly how long we keep things

• Active chat: until you delete it, or until you delete your account.
• Memory snippets: until you turn memory off, edit them out, or delete your account.
• Logs: 30 days for security and debugging.
• Billing records: 7 years, as required by tax law.
• Backups: rotated out within 30 days of account deletion.

5. Who can see your chats

By default, nobody on our team can read your chats. Engineers can access encrypted storage to maintain the Service, but the keys to decrypt are not stored together with the data.

In a small number of cases we may need to look at chat content — for example, if you report a bug that we can't reproduce — and we will ask you for permission first. Without your explicit yes, we don't look.

6. Sharing data with third parties

We share data only with a small number of service providers, each under strict contracts:

• Our cloud hosting provider, to store encrypted data.
• Our payment processor, to handle subscriptions.
• Our transactional email provider, to send receipts and account notifications.

We do not sell or rent data to advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing.

7. Your rights

• Access: ask for a copy of your data at any time.
• Correction: fix anything inaccurate.
• Deletion: erase everything we hold, with one tap in settings or by emailing us.
• Portability: get an export of your chats and memory in a readable format.
• Withdraw consent: turn memory off, delete characters, opt out of optional features.

If you are in the EU/UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children

The Service is for adults aged 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the Service, write to privacy@aigirlfriend.co.in and we will investigate and delete the account.

9. International transfers

We serve users in India and globally. Our servers may be located in regions chosen for performance, reliability and legal protection. If your data crosses borders, we use safeguards consistent with applicable data protection laws.

10. Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, isolated infrastructure for sensitive data, and tightly scoped access controls. No system is perfect; if we discover a breach affecting you, we will notify you promptly and tell you what happened in plain language.

11. Cookies

We use a minimal set of cookies: one for keeping you signed in, one for remembering your theme, and an optional anonymized analytics cookie for page-level diagnostics. You can disable cookies in your browser; the Service will still work, just with a sign-in nag.

12. Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we will publish the new version here and update the date at the top. If a change reduces your privacy in a meaningful way, we will email you in advance.
